Education Inspection Framework 2019
The new Education Inspection Framework 2019 is out, and here is how we can help your school meet all the criteria through our cross-curricula workshops. We have a wider range of workshops that are delivered at our purpose-built Education Centre set in the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands. We have created an outdoor environment that allows the learner to really focus on learning. Our excellent outdoor learning space is tranquil, a safe space and encouraging helping support learners to develop their character – including their resilience, confidence and independence – and help them be physically and mentally healthy. Using our extensive grounds, specialised knowledge and innovative lesson plans we can provide you with exciting interactive sessions which are designed to develop cross-curricular learning where learners will be able to study the full curriculum. This is backed up a report published by Keele University and testimonials from teacher
Quality of education
Intent
- to give all learners, particularly the most disadvantaged and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) or high needs, the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life
- to be coherently planned and sequenced towards cumulatively sufficient knowledge and skills for future learning and employment through careers education planned into the workshops
- our curriculum is designed to be ambitious and to meet their needs
- learners will be able to study the full curriculum. we ensure this by teaching a full range of subjects for as long as possible
Implementation
- we are very knowledgeable of the curriculum, due to our qualified teaching staff, the outdoor environment and of the subjects we teach
- we present subject matter clearly, promoting appropriate discussion about the subject matter we are teaching. We check learners’ understanding systematically, identify misconceptions accurately and provide clear, direct feedback. In doing so, we respond and adapt our teaching as necessary, without unnecessarily elaborate or differentiated approaches
- our workshops designed to help learners to remember in the long term the content they have been taught and to integrate new knowledge into larger concepts
- as shown in a report by Keele University we use assessment well to help learners embed and use knowledge fluently or to check understanding and inform our future teaching.
- We have created an outdoor environment that allows the learner to really focus on learning. The resources and materials that we create reflect our ambitious intentions for the course of study and clearly support the intent of a coherently planned curriculum, sequenced towards cumulatively sufficient knowledge and skills for future learning and employment
- We can also help support reading to develop learners’ confidence and enjoyment in reading. We are also able to support early years in reading and phonics knowledge
Impact
- the report by Keele University has already shown some of the great impact our workshop has on children. If workshops are undertaken regularly learners will develop detailed knowledge and skills across the curriculum and, as a result, achieve well while also being able to gain first-hand knowledge of careers
Behaviour and attitudes
- our workshops promote positive learner attitude towards their education. They encourage them to committed to their learning, be resilient to setbacks and take pride in their achievements
- our workshops create excitement for learners and give them a thirst for knowledge which encourages them to want to learn and be punctual in school
relationships among learners and staff reflect a positive and respectful culture. We create an environment where bullying, peer-on-peer abuse or discrimination are not tolerated. If they do occur, staff deal with issues quickly and effectively, and do not allow them to spread.
Personal development
- the curriculum we teach extends beyond the academic, technical or vocational. It provides for learners’ broader development, enabling them to develop and discover their interests, talents and social and emotional development
- our workshops, setting and teaching support learners to develop their character – including their resilience, confidence and independence – and help them be physically and mentally healthy
- at each stage of education, we can prepare learners for future success in their next steps
Testimonials
Great Grounds encourage schools to take teaching outside of the classroom which creates memorable learning experiences
You are a fresh new face and male role model
Georgie Rockingham, William Amory
Our children had a fantastic day, it allowed them to experience hands on cross curricular learning and be at one with nature. It is important that children are given such opportunities to explore and find themselves while learning at the same time. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough for us. We will most certainly look to return in in the future
An excellent day, informative and inspiring
It was very well presented and the children wrote in their books that you explained very clearly how to use the wood chipper
There is a clear passion from Great Grounds to engage all of the children and you did it. It was wonderful to see so many faces light up so many times in one day
G.Rowley, Springcroft Primary School
We visited Great Grounds as part of their launch day. We were welcomed and the children were engaged from the very beginning. James was very helpful and very knowledgeable about each area/activity. We look forward to returning at some point in the near future.
The children got an important learning opportunity which they loved. Now whenever the children see the planter, they will have a reminder of what they learned that day
All children need to experience the great outdoors; children have been allowed to be free for a day
Mrs Kate Clowes, Bishop Rawle Primary School
The activities and opportunities were fantastic to broaden the experience of children and learn outside the classroom. The children loved seeing the Alpacas and investigating the farm vehicles as well as learning lots about habitats, wildlife, plants, forestry work planting and creating things. It was a very enjoyable day with great things to take away back to school
It’s great being outside, we should spend more time outside
