Holiday Club - Woodland Whiz Kids
Great Grounds prides itself in inspiring children, parents and teachers to enjoy learning outside the classroom in a tranquil environment. We believe that every young person should experience the world beyond their home and classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances. For this learning to continue during school breaks we offer a holiday club open to all primary school aged children.
Great Grounds have launched a brand-new concept in holiday clubs where children can spend time enjoying a range of indoor and outdoor facilities, whilst having fun and learning at the same time.
Most holiday clubs provide children with a range of activities that they can get involved with but have very little emphasis on achieving any real learning outcomes. Over the past four years, Great Grounds have worked with schools and universities to create the pedagogy of play that integrates the curriculum to learn through play without them realising that they are being taught. Children want to feel like they are going to a place for fun and not to another school that looks a bit different. Nothing can be more rewarding for a parent than seeing their child’s educational development in an environment that they look forward to attending every day throughout the holidays.
Our wide range of fun and interactive workshops will inspire your child to learn in the great outdoors at our own centre of excellence. Our workshops have a strong emphasis on cross-curricular teaching, providing pupils with subject-specific vocabulary and knowledge that allows them to build links whilst enhancing their learning across other subjects.
Knowledge is delivered in a fun and engaging way and our aim is always to create experiences that feel nothing like being in a conventional school environment. Every day will bring something new from nature walks to willow weaving and will engage your child’s imagination and interests while learning curriculum subjects. With themes that are continually changing, parents can decide on days that they might like to get involved and not only learn new things themselves, but also be an integral part of their children’s development.
Parents are also encouraged to attend the sessions at no additional cost (excluding meals) and can themselves learn new skills, gain knowledge and see first-hand their child’s development.
Workshops / activities
All our workshops link to the curriculum and will have a focus on different types of careers. This combination of additional input widens a child’s horizon and creates a better understanding of the world around them. Parents too can get an insight into different jobs and the wide range of skills that people have that often go unnoticed.
